WDawg intoned:
With the clock ticking I though it would be a good time to ask if people
would like to have drawings at the Dinner of Friday night. If so, please
contact me off line. If you can get your dealer or some local business
to donate something, be sure to attach their name to the gift so we can
give them credit. Or if you want to donate something, that's fine too. I
will have a nice prize that I'm bringing down. It's quite a find. A '96
1500 Classic, Black and Red, brand new with Zero miles. Still in the
box. Just bring what you can and drop it off in my room  when you get there.

WDawg scripted:
In only 23 days, I will be down in the Heart of Texas in the beautiful
Hill Country. The weather will be perfect. Wiredgeorge promises. Plenty
of rain this winter so the Bluebonnets and other wildflowers will be
painting the country side with sky blues,  oranges, yellows and a
palette of colors no artist could capture. The roads are smooth and the
traffic sparse. The clear running streams and creeks will be showing off
their clean limestone bottoms and inviting anyone to stop for a few
minutes and soak up the gentle sounds and cool air..maybe even take off
the boots and soak for a while. It's no rush, take your time and stop at
the over looks in the hills or the creek bottoms with their massive old
cypress trees. Slow down an look at the beautiful limestone block homes
in the country or the exotic wildlife behind the 10' high fences along
the roads.

If you've never been to the Hill Country in the Springtime, you have a
treat in store. There is all kinds of riding roads. Mountain hugging
switchbacks, 90 mph sweepers, dips that will tickle your gizzard and
gently twisting roads that follow the rivers. Always a treat is the end
of the day break at Luckenbach. Watching the bikes come and go, sitting
under the ancient oak trees sipping an ice cold beverage, going over the
days events (lying) and just enjoying the company.

Great food and at least one meal at Cooper's BBQ in Llano is mandatory.
It ain't cheap and it ain't fancy, but it is the best BBQ in my never
humble opinion. Ranking BBQ in Texas can lead to some heated
discussions, but most will agree that Cooper's ranks up there with the best.

If you haven't made your plans, do so now..check the link in my sig.
Only 42 have signed up for the Dinner on Friday night, if you plan to
attend...sign up now...We need an accurate count for the folks at the
Sunday House...
We've got 115 signed up for HCR VI, make sure you are on the list.

WDawg scribbled:
Time for T-shirt orders. Click the link down below to place your orders.
http://home1.gte.net/res0nif0/forms/hcr6sf.html

The dinner orders will be set up in a few weeks, but the link is not
ready yet. We will let you know when it's ready. Click on the link in my
sig file to learn about the HCR. This will be our 6th year and the
attendance grows a little each year. We don't care if it's 50 or 500 in
attendance, just come prepared to have a good time and you won't be
disappointed.
If you've thought about going in the past and always found a reason you
couldn't make it, why not mark your calendar, sign up on the web site
and find a reason to not make whatever conflicts with the HCR6.
You guys from the colder climes can trailer on down if it's still too
cold come early April. It would be a great way to cure the cabin fever.
The wildflowers will be in bloom and it could be anywhere from 50 to 90
degrees during the day. Usually it is warm enough to ride with just a
t-shirt if you like.
Look through the web site if you have been thinking about it and imagine
sitting down under the oak trees in Luckenbach after a days riding,
having a cold beverage, watching the people come and go and listening to
the lies ;-}

This is the link to the HCR6 website. I know it's a ways off, but it's
not too early to start planning. Make your reservations and turn in your
vacation dates. Sign up on the lists. As time gets nearer, we will need
to get a count for the dinner at the Sunday House.
Here is a site I found that has links to some interesting history and
facts about the Hill Country. http://www.texfiles.com/
Also a link to the best BBQ you'll ever encounter. Cooper's is a 'real
bbq joint' in 'real bbq' country. Chicken, pork ribs, beef ribs, pork
chops, sausage, brisket, sirloin steaks, cabritto..all done to
perfection. It's great to be a carnivore in the Hill Country. They have
slaw, beans, potato salad and other stuff, but why waste gut space on
that when you can have meat and blackberry cobbler ;-] We always
include at least one planned stop at Coopers and a stop at Luckenbach at
the end of every day's riding. Luckenbach is only about 5 miles from
where we stay in Fredericksburg.
Nothing quite like having a Shiner Bock in Luckenbach, sitting under the
ancient oak trees listening to someone lie about the day's ride ;-}

As the winter begins to creep down from the FN region, start thinking
about warm weather, and explosion of wildflowers, Texas BBQ, and the
best riding you never knew existed..from switch backs, to 90 mph
sweepers that seem to go on forever... I'll be posting some gentle
reminders every now and then lest you forget.

WDawg kicked off the discussion 3 weeks ago and things have been proceeding smahingly with one minor issue. One pack member (who will remain nameless
but apparently has been named 'Small Member' by female pack members in the know) has started an ongoing flame war with the organizing party.  While
spirited exchange is always part of any DFWVROC activity, said pack member is testing the limits of the pack's patience.  Let's hope the agitator will cease
and desist so we can focus on the joy of riding instead of the petty concerns of a single pack member.  Feel free to share this feeling by emailing the
unnamed whiner at gagwoody@whiner.com.

Subject: [dfwvroc] VVR: Hill Country Ride VI

OK, time to start getting ready for the HCR the first weekend of April.
Check the link in my sig file to get the motel info. The Fredericksburg
Lodge is the 'headquarters'. The planned rides leave from there. Across
the street is the Sunday House where we have our dinner. All the details
of the dinner and T-shirts are not finalized yet, but will be in plenty
of time. I'm announcing the dates for the ride now so you can begin
making your plans to attend. There are a block of rooms reserved for
VROC at the Fredericksburg Lodge. I'd suggest getting your reservations
now.

I noticed in this issue of Motorcycle Cruiser, that Jamie Elvridge went
through part of the Hill Country and stopped for a dip in one of the
rivers. You might want to check it out, all she is wearing is a pair of
flip flops!!  She says in the article "....a place I will be visiting
again now that it's headlining on my daydream list.."
Put it on your list too. It really is a beautiful part of the world and
has some of the best motorcycling roads anywhere....
